In the novel Nephilim: The Remnants by David A. Henderson the reader is taken into an ancient medieval time where the Nephilim, an ancient species of half man, half fallen angel, possessing immortality and super human strength from the Bible (Genesis 6:4), are working with Count Vladimir to take over the kingdoms of the land and bring about a true dark age. Meanwhile Sir Daniel, one of the few remaining Holy Knights of old, knows that without his help, evil stands a good chance at success.

I received this novel compliments of David A. Henderson and Christian Fiction Book Reviews for my honest review. This is a book geared for young adults from 11 and up who are looking for a great Biblical fantasy story when the hero consults with his King, the Lord God, through prayer and laced with scripture throughout the story--your child is in for a true treat! I love the idea of the author incorporating a character type from the Bible that many overlook and give a rare glimpse at a fictional account most have never heard of until reading this book. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and consider this to be an outstanding alternative for children looking for a great medieval fantasy fiction that is truly biblical based!

A second review for Hush, Little Baby

Rarely does a book come around that makes you gasp as you read it, because you can't think the horrors it brings you to confront face to face will get any worse. In Hush, Little Baby by Deborah M. Piccurelli does just that and more as the story grows.

Amber Blake is a journalist who has been sent to work undercover at the Cedarview Women's Center in South Jersey, under the watchful eye of Dr. Albert Hines. Hardly believing she landed the job, she is sent on a mission to bring to justice the killer of her sister, Ashley who died during complications she received when she got an abortion.

Given inside information that there may be more going on at the clinic that what appears by a co-worker named Maggie, who tells her that fetal harvesting is taking place as well. When patients show up for their procedure they are asked to give up the rights of their fetus to science, which many are more than willing to do as a way to feel better about what they are doing.

Now all Amber has to do is bring back enough evidence on the clinic to have it shut down and Dr. Hines arrested, but at just 4-foot-tall, that appears to be a larger order than she planned. Especially when the good Doctor is more than attracted to her. What she doesn't tell anyone is that she is married, but separated from Evan, her husband, who is working on the undercover article. Evan wants to work with Amber at reconciling their marriage but when he doesn't want to have children because of the ridicule it may cause their children if they are drawfs, Amber is forced to look at divorcing him. What would he think if he knew she had a daughter with him that he doesn't know anything about?

I received Hush, Little Baby compliments of Christian Fiction Book Reviews and Deborah M. Piccurelli for my honest review. Being a huge pro-life, Christian, I had to see where this book was going and how it would end. It does make the reader wonder just what really goes on behind the back doors in those women's clinics even today and sees just how real and true this story could be. I applaud Deborah's efforts to bring a breathable, likeable character to life, in Amber, who is struggling with her own personal convictions of working at a clinic being a believer in God. She tries to make sure that women who arrive are given all opportunities to keep their child, but when the Doctor informs her she's going against policy and is subject to being fired, she finds she is up against a rope that only God can help her out of. I rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars and remind the reader that the subject matter may be a bit intense but overall provides a great story to engage the reader with its suspense.

Lorena Huntley has a huge dilemma, she has attracted the hearts of more than one man who is captured not only by her beauty but by her heart as well. However one of those men is fast becoming more than just a friend to her if she can keep her emotions in check.

One of those is her strong-willed protector. Being one of the only men in her life besides her father, he has grown to love her in a remarkable way. He is Andrew Benjamin Huntley, otherwise known as her adopted brother of just five, but with a heart of gold in keeping Lorena from any man who wishes her harm, even if he is truly a giant and a pirate.

This is where we meet Captain Brogan Talvis, who happens upon a chance meeting with Lorena mistaking her for a simply maid in the Huntley household, and when he gains the opportunity to flatter her not only with his charm and good looks, he falls flat on his face. The victim of a simple sling shot and a rock, thanks to Andrew who has finally slayed his giant and now runs away with Lorena to the safety of their house before he awakens.

When Captain Brogan is invited to the Huntley household for dinner and a possible business proposition, he has his eye on more than one prize. Andrew Benjamin is actually his long lost son that his late wife abandoned without telling him where to find him. Now that he has, he must find a way to gain the trust of not only Lorena but for Benjamin as well. But will he have what it takes to win her heart in order to steal back his son, or will his moral convictions of doing whats best for his son override his desire?

I received Prize of My Heart by Lisa Norato compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. Here we find an interesting turn of events where we have a roguish sea captain bent on acquiring the one prize he hasn't been able to find, his son, until now. Thinking he would simply take the boy out for a boat ride and then sail off with him, he finds that trust is something he will have to earn in order to make his plan work. There seems to be no way to gain Benjamin's attention until he can win Lorena's trust first. This is truly a love story in the making as we see the rough outer exterior of Brogan blend with the warmth of love for his son. As tough as it is to want to race out and claim your son, he must realize it's not that simple and must be patient. Something that is going to be a challenge for him since he's been a privateer for most of his life. He simply has taken what he wants but that will not be the case now. This one rates a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and will capture the heart of all sea loving romance fans.

When the beginning page of a book begins with a warning not to read this book at night, one has to wonder just what they have gotten themselves into.

"Something Stirs is not a book to be read at night, or a novel for easily frightened people. Because Something Stirs delves into a kind of evil that actually exists, it makes the novel that much more compelling. " (excerpt from Michelle Sutton's review).

Yet as a reminder, I kept telling myself that this is a Christian book, so I must press on. It's been quite some time since I got the creepy feeling that I just might have to have a second look before heading into a dark room before turning on the lights and proceeded to dive in with caution on my side. I mean, if it got too scary I could always sleep with lights on or just stop til morning right?

Well after an hour and a half, I was well into the book with suspense happening at virtually every single page. At the half way point, I was hooked and simply had to know what would happen next. YES, it is that good!

Even though the housing industry was in a slump it didn't mean that houses could be built with the hopes of selling it to a new prospective owner and half way through completion is where our story gets interesting. After the construction company leaves for the day, four teens head to the empty house on top of the hill known as Grants Ridge, overlooking the town of Pike's Crossing. They want to create what is known as an occult circle or club. A place where they can give each other the creeps like through seances or telling scary stories. Rodney Hardwick is the leader of the four teens and he has other plans. Plans to use an ancient spell book he's come across to call forth an entity to serve them to right the wrongs in all their lives.

However one of the girls, Robin, felt this was getting way out of hand when she saw the pentagram on the floor and the candles at each of the points. She feared this went beyond spooky and into downright evil. She decides to leave even after being teased that she is just a baby. However Rodney, Myra and Kenny decide to stay. Just as the spell is about to be completed, a local deputy spots the lights in the house and the kids flee, but not before trapping an evil presence within the walls of the house. All it will need is to be free is to gain more blood until it gains more power to find a host to unleash the greatest horror on mankind. So for now, it waits. It waits for the Chalmers family to move in completely unaware of the horror that awaits them inside.

I received Something Stirs by Thomas Smith compliments of Christian Fiction Book Reviews for my honest opinion and can honestly say IT'S THAT GOOD. 5 out of 5 spell-binding stars for this one to keep me trying to decide if sleep was really all that important before finishing the book. I kept inhaling chapter after chapter, telling myself, I would stop at the next one, but it kept pulling at me to read on. Needless to say I finished it after a delightful 3 hours. It will keep you listening for things that go bump in the night and to wonder how that cabinet door opened by itself after all, but the best part is the authors message that only the love of God and the redemption of Jesus' can defeat evil. Not anything we can wage war on our own but simply the submission of letting Him work through us gets us through the worst of our storms. I can't wait to read more from Thomas Smith in the very near future.
