Lifted from the Waters
by Culpepper Webb
TAGS: Inspirational Drama

Lifted from the Waters is one of the most poignant and touching stories I have read in a long time. Gunter Wall, an elderly man, recounts the defining moments of his life, through a rich and meaningful depiction of the Greatest Generation. It was a generation which faced the depression and the horrors of World War II, and a time when men, returning from the war, were not supposed to express emotion, but "put one foot in front of the other", as Gunter Wall would say.

Through excellent character development, I grew to love the people, and was deeply moved through their triumphs and trials. And, I felt I was sitting on a log in the woods, with this wise old man, imparting golden nuggets of wisdom to me. It should be required reading for today’s high school students who have so lost sight of selflessness, hard work, and sacrifice.

If you love heartwarming stories about love, bravery, faith and integrity, you’ll love this book. Get your tissues and savor the experience!
